ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Samuel Hudson

Welcome! I am glad you stopped by my page. I assume you would like to know more about me unless you clicked on “about” by accident. Where do I begin?

Honestly, I do not like talking or writing about myself. It is not that I am overly humble, I just never really know what to say. I feel like I am an ordinary guy. I have lived a somewhat interesting life, at least for me anyway, and have finally settled into something regular.

As a child I experienced some trauma that adversely affected me in some ways, but ultimately worked out for good as it helped to shape my perspective in many ways. I do not mention this for sympathy, and I am not sure if/when I will talk about it in my blog. However, I wanted to mention it so that reader’s might better understand my thoughts about certain things.

I grew up in a Christian home, have Christian values, but I am rejected by many within my faith because my convictions do not always match the mainstream philosophies. I married young, had my first child young, got divorced young, met my current wife, and took a very long time to get married again. Not really the ideal scenario for an evangelist’s kid, and that's not even half of why some would rather call me a heretic than welcome me with open arms.

Professionally I started my adult occupational career as a door-to-door sales person, then I was a telemarketer, after that I started working in a flooring business and it was there that I first had an opportunity to work with networking hardware setup and configuration. Moving into my mid 20’s I returned to my hometown and started working for a fast food restaurant so I could say that I had a job, but I was really trying to be a rock star. I sang in a rock band for about a decade, working in fast food, electronics manufacturing, painter, custodian, and of course, unemployed. Right around the time I hit 30 I decided it was time to get serious with life, plus I had been stringing along this beautiful, understanding, patient woman (yes my wife) for almost a decade and if I wanted to marry her, I knew I needed a real career. I finally went to college and earned my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University graduating Summa Cum Laude.

It took about a year, but I found a job in a great district – where I grew up! Not all teachers can say that! My wife and I now have two children – both boys. We are doing well. I find my happiness in the fact that we give our children a decent life, and I get to go to work everyday and hopefully make an impact on 20+ other children.

I tell you all of this to let you know that I try to be well rounded. I do not think my perspective is best, nor do I think it is unique. However, I have lived a lot in the relatively short time I have been on this hunk of rock and I think that adds to my perspective. I understand that my lived experiences, while they have helped to shape me, are not the same as yours. I hope though, that if you are reading my blog you have a similar perspective and understand that by reading and conversing with differing points of view, we get to know each other better and we tend to find more commonality than we might think. Please, enjoy your time here with my thoughts, and when you are done, go with peace.
